Storm
The best laid plans of mice and men often come a cropper and so it was with me this morning. This being the October Bank Holiday Monday it was Dublin City Marathon Day and I had the cameras all laid out ready to get up there to shoot the agony and the ecstasy at the 24 mile mark.
One look out the back door at 7.30am and I decided that it simply wasn't worth the effort. I have run the event 10 or 11 times in the dim distant past but never in conditions like today. The rain has been heaving down all day, driven by a horrible gale of wind. On day like this I'm inclined to think that not being a runner any more is perhaps not a bad idea at all.
I have ventured no further that 5 metres outside the door all day and this shot was made from the sanctuary of the conservatory while struggling to keep the door open at the same time. Some would say it's a typical Bank Holiday.
