Worlds apart
The difference between the city and just across the water to the Coromandel Peninsula sure does feel like worlds apart.
Went out for brunch with R-A. Her quiet determination not to let a broken tibia and fibula and a broken shoulder (all on the left side) get her down is admirable. It's been 7 weeks since her skiing accident and for that time she has been constrained to shuffling on wheelchairs or resting on couch or bed - strictly no weight bearing. It was good then to be able to take her out for a wee outing. I think she handled her wheelchairs far better than I handled her super-modern-all-the-bells-and-whistles car to get us there!
Headed to town later to meet C for a coffee and a chat. It's been a long while since we last enjoyed a chat, and it felt like we barely brushed the surface before it was time to move on. I hope it's not so long until the next time.
Having completely overlooked the fact that today is the Friday before a long weekend it never occured to me that the traffic out of the city would be an issue...... As I headed south there were certainly longer-ish periods of crawling but on the whole, I think I probably got out of the city before the worst of it began. Whew!
Headed then to Coromandel to see J. The drive was interesting - city traffic racing headlong down motorways for long weekend slowly gave way to city traffic racing round windy Coromandel roads. My van doesn't really do quick - and certainly not on hills - so there were many pull-overs to let the city racers pass. With views like this though, it really wasn't a problem.
Lovely to see you J and to be able to deliver in person the facebook hug I sent you last week :)
PS Map location is a complete guess!
