Felbrigg for Coffee

I've had a relaxing day, and have still resisted the temptation to write a list...but that can't continue! I've also managed to do lots too. Proof perhaps that a list isn't always needed?

At 10.30 (the new 10.30) Jon, me & the dogs went for a nice walk to Felbrigg. I think it was our first long Sunday morning walk since our move. It was a good opportunity to chat about everything. The weather was suitably autumn-like, and the path nice and squelchy under foot. We found a few chestnuts, but most were small or shriveled. Squirrels had already eaten all the good ones. I brought home 3 - suffice to say we didn't light a fire! It was nice to walk though the woods - I miss that.

We enjoyed coffee at the cafe at Felbrigg; a lovely setting. Aren't we lucky we have this lovely estate so close we can walk to it, across countryside? I liked the shapes in this courtyard building where the cafe is situated and I guess there won't be many more opportunities to sit outside. After a quick look in the National Trust shop, we continued on our walk, back via the lake.

We got back home around 1 o'clock. Then jobs began. Jon put up another shelf in Henry's room, while I made an apple pie! I had too much pastry, so also made some cakes - I think they have a proper name, but not sure what it is - pastry on the bottom, then jam (home made last year) and sponge mixture on the top. As I didn't have a recipe, I guessed at how long to cook them. They were very nice, so about 20 minutes is the answer!

Mollie had started on preparing display cards for my jewellery. Gluing and sticking the financial times I bought earlier in the week onto cardboard. We are pleased with the results. I made more earrings & necklaces, and we talked a lot about what else we could make into jewellery that would be really different. We made a decision, and ordered something from eBay - but we aren't saying what! Still more planning to do - but we will be busy this week!

Nice curry for dinner, and a bit of TV. Now it must be bedtime - I have lists to think about.....
