Fern Man
Today we had a couple of garden visits to fern collections in the Glasgow area. This portrait is of my friend Alasdair, who has a magnificent collection of ferns in his garden in Bearsden, including all the British native ferns - even filmy ferns and another that grows only in a sea cave near Aberdeen. It must be the only garden in Britain that has an artificial sea cave made out of a box with a glass roof!
My extra picture today is of a model railway next door to our second fern garden - this layout runs right around his garden and tennis court, through the kitchen window into his house and thence into the front garden, and across the drive on a section of track fitted in for the purpose. I'm told that he has a complete station inside the house. He operates this every Sunday at 2pm! I'm not sure if he has a wife!
