Once bittern
A calm fine day so went down to Minsmere. First stop Island Mere hide which was totally empty when I arrived. A few more visitors came in time for a brief bittern flight. Landing where it did I knew there was a good chance that it would walk around into the open and sure enough it did, much to the delight of the now rather full hide. It stayed out in the open for a good 10-15 minutes. Carried on down to the visitor centre which was extremely busy, so busy in fact that the overflow car park was needed. With reception at full stretch I pulled on a high vis vest and went out to direct cars. The really busy period only lasted for an hour but it was good to see so many visitors out enjoying a fine autumn day. After that just had time for a quick walk down North Wall to catch nice views of bearded tits before returning home for the second semi-final of the Rugby World Cup.
