India day 2
What an amazing day. We started our tour today at Jama Masjed - an enormous Muslim temple which was totally breathtaking. From there we could see the enormous Red Fort but we didn't have time to visit there. We then went on bicycle rickshaws through Delhi old town. This was something I never thought I would dare to do but it was fantastic!.
From there we went to Ghandis memorial - the place where he was cremated. That was challenging.
Then off to Humayuns Tomb - the photo is of this place. It was an enormous building, beautifully decorated, surrounded by four huge gate houses and other tombs. Totally stunning.
A quick visit to the enormous India Gate then off to relax over lunch for a while.
Finally we visited Qutub Minar, an enormous tower built in the 1100's. Another incredible place.
Finished by a visit to a craft shop which was disappointing.
Dinner this evening in a restaurant just up the road from our hotel and when we got back to the hotel there were wedding celebrations going on outside - complete with fireworks and the loudest drummers I have heard.
One amazing day!
