We were really appreciating the fact that in the end we booked mostly private accommodation, although our dorm mates were friendly, the Chinese ladies came back at like 1am and then locked themselves out, then got up at like 6. The one girl was about our age, the other looked around 40, I mean I'm impressed but seriously? I need sleep! Alastair isn't an appropriate size for bunk beds either!
We went up to explore the castle after a very continental breakfast at the bakery (and coffee...), it was actually really interesting, we got a lot of history about the town as well as the castle. The town is so well preserved because some American generals had been to university there, knew how pretty it was and therefore ordered the allies not to bomb it, and I'm so glad!
The German train strike was still an ongoing saga, so we fled for Switzerland and their insane time keeping.
