Mandarins Among The Mallards

Now that the hard job of surviving their first year is done, a male Mandarin Duck has appeared amongst the four young females at Nanpantan Reservoir. 

There's also another male, but he doesn't sport the same splendid plumage as this one, with two females in front of him.

Basil always likes getting to the point where the ducks congregate. It's a chasing opportunity.

I'm most aggrieved that the fishing syndicate not only locks the gate to Nanpantan Reservoir all night. It's now restricting access for entry to just pedestrians. We have to park outside. Getting beyond a joke.
