A scent of Autumn

We have a large shrub - a vibirnam - among others near our back door. At the moment it is covered in these little flowers, and the scent is delicate but delightful, especially in the late afternoon.
From our bedroom window I sometimes see birds go in and out of this shrub in the early morning, blue tits and others, while blackbirds come out and peck about on the grass. I think there are several nests within!
We had our pergola fixed today, as it was rotting in one or two places! A few extra lengths of timber and two burly chaps fixed it, so that it should last a few more years! It is such a lovely place to sit or have a meal during the summer, and at least the creepers can now stay to provide the shade!
