Autumn in Parke

We went on a bird watching outing to Parke a National Trust property on Dartmoor.  While there were a lot of small birds including Long Tailed Tits, Blue Tits, Nuthatches, Wrens and Robins flying around in the trees as we first set off they soon disappeared as we headed for the woods and the River Bovey.

It was in the woodland that I found some of the colourful views that I wanted to photograph.  The birders however were finding very little so they walked ahead quicker than usual.  They took a small pathway to the left leading to the river while I tried to catch up but stayed on the main pathway.  Realising my mistake I quickly traced my steps backwards rushing past a few more potential river shots.

Some of them did spot a Dipper flying down the river and a Grey Wagtail, but no Kingfishers.  Many more birds were spotted including a Woodpecker but I can't remember them all, but I am continually amazed at how quickly experienced bird spotters can see and recognise birds.  A good mornings outing, followed by coffee in Teignmouth.

A extra photo is included taken in the woods.
