Cape Flora Bouquet
These are South African flowers. They hail from the Cape Floral Kingdom, the smallest and richest of the world’s six floral kingdoms, situated at the southern-most point of the African continent. The mountains, valleys and coastal area of the South Western Cape are the natural habitat of over 8,000 plant species with 5,000 unique to this area. The highest number flower between mid-July to mid-October which is springtime in South Africa. With the availability of modern technology, the Cape Floral Industry is able to supply world markets. I reckon the yellow flower is a protea. The genus Protea was named by the famous botanist Carl Linnaeus after the Greek god Proteus, who could change his form at will. I was given a protea and roses bouquet in January and it was stunning for weeks and weeks. I bought this bunch myself - interesting to see how it lasts.
