Not quite hidden

When our younger daughter moved to her new home, by the carport were some unexciting (to this non-expert in plant recognition) sticks. S advised J that she should wait and see what might develop. In the last week the bare sticks have shown themselves to be Philadelphus, and they are now covered with leaves and white and yellow flowers.

Additionally, showing through the Philadelphus are beautiful old fashioned roses.

After the end of work today, I went out west to J's home, where S had already gone (travelling with J), and enjoyed a bit of quiet family time. So we are staying in the city tonight, and will head north tomorrow morning. It's a holiday weekend (Monday is Labour Day; a day off for workers), and the road north was full of slow moving traffic from mid afternoon until almost dark. Tomorrow should be easier travel.
