A walk in the woods

A walk in Salcey Forest this afternoon. There are two main options for walking in the forest; the walk from the Pay and Display car park by the cafe along paved paths and with the option of climbing up to the tree-top walk, or parking about a mile away on the other side of the road and walking through the more 'working' side of the forest. Both are good walks but as I had no change for the car park machines we opted for the latter. Quite muddy but lovely and quiet and peaceful apart from the sound of acorns dropping to the ground every now and again; we didn't see any other walkers while we were out. The forestry workers had clearly been hard at work; lots of oak trees had been harvested and were laid out to season. they should make some good furniture in time!
