Diary of an Edinburgher

Autumn!

What a windy day! I would not have been able to hang my sheets out without help this morning - my pal M popped over for a coffee and a scone (not one of mine I hasten to add - a proper coffee shop scone). We put about six pegs in each sheet.

Lots of piles of autumn leaves, though they kept shifting in the swirling gusty wind. In the park I spied a dad and his wee boy, burying each other in leaves... I walked over in their direction made a bee line for them, then made out that I'd just accidentally arrived in their vicinity. I boldly asked if I could take a photo, and they were quite happy to pose. Dad gave me his email, so I'll send him a couple of photos.

I got the wee lad to throw up some leaves, but he'd only throw up two or three. M helped by chucking great handfuls at him, which caused great amusement. Eventually he got fed up with me asking him to do it again and again. Thanks, C.

We proceeded to Project Coffee, who do the best (and biggest) scones around. It was jam packed, but we managed to squash in. Archie was very good because not one, not two, but three dogs came and sat at the table (actually, under the table) near us. He just looked at them. No barking or whining. Good boy. I would have been very grumpy if he'd started yapping and I'd had to suddenly vacate the premises, mid scone...

When I came back, most items on the line had lost at least one peg - they were all over the lawn - and one sheet was just about to fly over the wall in the next gust. Nice to get the sheets dried in the fresh air (without losing any) I always think.

PS I see Scot Squad is back on. Funniest thing on TV!
