St Andrew's fountain
The things one learns on holiday...
The cathedral in Amalfi is dedicated to Saint Andrew (who is also the Patron Saint of Scotland) as some of his bones are allegedly interred in the crypt. According to the leaflet we were given in the cathedral, the bones of the apostle were taken first to Constantinople by the papal envoy to the Fourth Crusade and later to Amalfi, where they were received by great joy on 8th May 1208.
This fountain is situated on the town square opposite the cathedral and contains an 'interesting' feature near the base. Certainly different to many fountains I've seen in the past!
