Tui

I just couldn't believe my luck this afternoon. Spotted this tui flitting around in the garden chasing the little tiny insects that were in the air. Grabbed the camera and only had time to get three shots, the other two were rubbish, but this one was perfect...whew. Always trying to get them in flight but have never succeeded before.

Interesting that for the past few months have seen them feasting on nectar, but just in the last few days have noticed them around the house eating the little insects stuck in cobwebs (there are a few of those!!), so obviously they are needing some protein at the moment. Maybe they are getting ready to lay eggs.
