Sew Tired

Ended my day slaving over my sewing machine. But let's rewind, on this 'Back to the Future' day, to the morning....

Whoops. Pressed off instead of snooze on my alarm. That wasn't a great start! The drizzle brought everyone out in their cars, which slowed me, then the beet collecting lorry blocked my path. It was going to be a long day.

THEN....a little ray of sunshine brightened my day, in the form of an old lady, who I chanced to sit next to on the bus. She was a delight. In the half hour journey I found out she had already been for a swim that morning, and was then on her way in to Norwich to catch a coach for a day trip to Cambridge. Shame about the weather. My cue to join in Cambridge conversation & I told her my reason for no longer being there. She was immensely sympathetic and concerned. We talked about our families, her sons both builders now retired, her grandson who buys houses at auction, does them up and sells them, the war - she was in the WAAF. She said she will be marching in London in November, with her medals. She does every year. Then she told me she is 92. 92!!! I was stunned. She was amazing. Is amazing. I was sorry to get off the bus. She said she is the oldest member of the WAAF Association. Lovely old lady & I don't even know her name.

Busy day at work. Aimless wander at lunchtime. Late home to avoid beet lorries. Felt shattered, but thankful that dinner was ready and the house was tidy. After dinner I sat on the bed for a while. I could easily have gone to sleep, but I had a bag I wanted to make. After The Archers I went back downstairs and after a fair bit of faffing, over the course of the rest of the evening I made the bag. It's not perfect, but hopefully will be liked by it's recipient. I won't say too much in case they are reading this!

Wasn't DIY SOS a tearjerker. I could hardly see my stitches for tears.

Bed with a headache. Two more work days and then I have a week off. Can't come soon enough....
