Picture the scene ....
Cooking breakfast in the caravan: table laid, bacon, mushroom and cheese omelette under the grill to finish, toast in the toaster, coffee on the go, plates in the microwave to heat, then ..... Toast flies out of the toaster and lands on the mat reminding me of the Morecombe & Wise breakfast sketch, timer goes off on microwave and cooker, followed by the smoke alarm. I disarm the smoke alarm, retrieve the omelette from under the grill, pick the toast up off the floor and then get the plates out of the microwave. I've now forgotten how long plates have been in micro and put right hand on top one, then left one on bottom one . Ouch I stuck to it and felt the pain. Plunged injured hand under running water which promptly ran out so daubed loads of burn cream on nasty looking hand and wrapped it in swathes of cling film.
Ate breakfast, in lots of pain and then took a trip to Boots for a Pharmacist's view of the damage which was an onward journey to the minor injuries dept. At Lymington Hospital who treated my royally, another 15 minute soak under cold water and a very posh dressing for a significant burn, a tetanus jab and a follow-up appointment to change the dressing tomorrow.
As it rained hard in the night and most of the morning we didn't waste too much of our precious time here and were able to explore Lymington in the afternoon and have a good walk round the town and harbour.
Hand still hurts quite a bit but I'm back on cooking duty this evening!! Time for a drink I think.
