Around the Campfire
Straight after picking up the kids from school today, we headed off for our camping weekend with friends... quite a few of us were going (9 families of 18 adults and 19 kids!)
We weren't going far (East Sussex) so it didn't take too long, even though the traffic was bad and we had the heaviest rain storm on the way there. But we arrived to blue skies and just a few clouds and it stayed dry for the rest of the evening.
After the kids had had their tea, and whilst the adult meal was being prepared, a campfire was lit and all the children were told to go and find a long stick so that they could toast marshmallows. They loved this and were quite expert by the end, peeling layer upon layer of lovely marshmallow.
When they did all finally go to bed, the adults sat up into the wee hours, talking, drinking and enjoying the warmth of the campfire.
