Iron. Tiny Tuesday
Although the wooden handle is missing this tiny iron is functioning; just lift the top, put in some hot embers and away you go.
My grandmother, in Yorkshire, used such an iron when I was a child though she used embers from a coal fire. No electricity in her house. However, hers was much larger than the little Romanian one pictured here, which would have used embers from a wood fire.
Now it is just ornamental in our flat in Yorkshire.
It is resting on an 'ie' (ee-ai) from the Bucovina in northern Romania. I wear it; it is a man's blouse with traditional decoration from the Bucovina - wonderfully cool on a hot day.
Thanks to jensphotos for hosting Tiny Tuesday this month.
