A lesson in language

Philippe knew his return from ignominy and obscurity would not be without pain and suffering... for this he was prepared.

It was the manner that surprised him and provides a fine example of how nuances in language can still have surprising and unfortunate consequences.

Philippe did not anticipate that his shouted warning of 'Hey!' to a trio of teenage girls in the middle of the road would be translated as 'Spread out and form a human chain across the road so he has to hit at least one of us' in their dialect.

The adrenalin is wearing off now.

Philippe is sore.

But proud.
