Each month I aim to cook a dish from The Scandinavian Cookbook by Trina Hahnemann, which my Danish cousin gave me for Christmas a few years ago. For October, with the nights definitely drawing in now, I've chosen the Oxtail Ragout, although I make it with beef rather than Oxtail. It's a good Sunday afternoon dish as it takes several hours for the beef, wine and seasonings to get acquainted. Meanwhile I'm reading my James Lee Burke novel about Hurricane Katrina - The Tin Roof Blowdown. It's an excellent read but very violent and I'll be quite glad to get to the end now.
