Belles of the Ball
It was a day that felt more like November than October. The sky alternated between cloudy and overcast and peeks of sun. We had our first snow flurries of the year just before noon. They didn't amount to much, but it was a foretaste of the things to come!
It was mostly an indoor day. I got some things done around the house and made an apple crisp in the morning. It's the sort of thing that's easy to do, and it makes the house smell great all day long. All apple and cinnamon and brown sugar. The part that takes the longest is peeling and dicing the apples.
But the fun part was that it left me with apple hoop skirts, perfect for the Dancing Girls! We hear that what was old is new again; and that they are all the fashion in gay Paree. I imagine that they make getting in and out of the car to get to the party rather awkward, but hey, a bit of suffering is the price of high fashion!
The song to accompany this image of two belles dressed in their apple hoop skirts and ready to attend the harvest fest is Waylon Jennings, with Belle of the Ball.
