The Grand Canal in Tollcross
Edinburgh is often called the Athens of the North, but here in Tollcross it could be called the Venice of the North with this street like the Grand Canal, only without the gondolas or the handsome gondoliers.
The carpet and foam clad scaffolding has given way to eye catching striped wooden surrounds. I suppose the powers that be have decided that if you are daft enough not to see the lurid uprights, then the the consequences of bumping into wood is less hurtful than bumping into steel poles.
I would like to point out that this blip is not a selfie and His Lordship and I are not the figures in the distance......just saying.....
