Fluffy 1654 hr (Friday 9th October 2015)
There is some kind of relationship between Fluffy from up the road and Smokey but it's hard to tell whether they are friends or adversaries, if indeed such human characteristics can be applied to cats, who have virtually nothing in common with us lesser beings. It is said that if cats could speak, they wouldn't, and they certainly have no interest in communicating their mysteries to us. Here Fluffy stalks Smokey in the undergrowth at my cottage.

The Pretenders - The Wait (recorded July 1978)
I was working at the BBC Gramophone Library when this was released on the B-side of their first single, Stop Your Sobbing, and I remember clearly listening to it for cataloguing purposes and absolutely loving it straight away. They re-recorded the song for their first album in 1979 but this wilder, unpolished version, produced by Nick Lowe at the Eden Studios in London, with Gerry Mcilduff on drums as Martin Chambers had yet to join the band, is the one.
