Louis Couperus in Den Haag

Raindrops on his hat and shoulders... I reckon he's often faced rain in this city and looked like this.

Couperus statue is in front of the art house Pulchri studio in the city, made by sculptor Kees Verkade; it bears the quote by Couperus 'so I be someone, I'm a Hagenaar' (citizen of Den Haag).

Louis Couperus  was a dutch author in the late 19th century & early 20th, who travelled extensively to the Dutch East Indies (Indonesia) and the classical countries like Italy & Greece. He's remembered for his stories located in Indonesia like 'The hidden force' but also for his  novels 'Eline Vere' and 'The books of small souls', both situated mostly in Den Haag.
