Santiago

Another early start for A 2 hour drive through stark desert scenery, past the biggest copper mine in the world, to get our flight to Santiago. The Pacific was on one side as we flew South, and the snow-capped peaks on the Andes on the other.

After checking in at the hotel, (hot water AND the luxury of a bath!) we headed out for a stroll around this very modern city. A lot of investment seems to be going on here, with the highest building in South America.

We got a funicular up a hill from where I took this blip - the Andes are just visible as the backdrop to the city.

Then it was a last group meal - as we are going our separate ways in the morning.
