The Garden of the Just
We had a little time to spare before our taxi took us to the airport this morning, so I went off in search of paprika. Our food tour guide had told us not to buy the prettily packaged paprika in the market and souvenir shops as it was a poor strength, but to buy the more expensive brands in the supermarkets. That purchased, there was time for another look around the Jewish Quarter. The pictured weeping willow tree was erected in 1989 - the names of the victims of the Hungarian Holocaust are engraved on the metal leaves. The stone columns in the centre record the names of the "Just" who saved persecuted Jews. Poignant and beautiful. Hope to return to this wonderful city again soon - thank you C, J and A for your company. Then off to the airport, and no delays this time - swift flight home, and straight to the local pub!
