Bluming heck. I'm so relieved this killer week is over.

It's always the same at the end of the first term, but always takes me by surprise. Gone into school totally refreshed after summer holidays, full of energy, big ideas, new resolutions. Then after 7 weeks of laying down the law, saying the same things tens of thousands of times, dealing with bleeding noses, blunt pencils, lost rubbers, playtime disputes, maths meltdowns, lost homework and lost friendships. 7 weeks of trying to be mindful that it's a big deal to the kid it's happening to and not just another thing to keep you from the (broken) printer to get your paperwork into management on time. It's pure exhaustion by mid-October. And that's only before 1pm when I get home. Or see how shattered Bern is with his course and all on top. We're all three of us out of everything at the moment - physical and emotional.

Thank heavens for brilliant moments like this. Robin: "Hiding, ready" followed by a huge long "shhhhhhhhhhhh" to her penguin. Too sweet.
