Air Ambulance

This is a back blip. I've been staying in Reeth in Swaledale with no signal for anything. It's been pouring with rain, but there was a lull for an hour or so.

I took a wander down the garden of the cottage that I was staying in, this meant navigating an assault course of mud as the drains have been dug up. I got to the bottom of it and saw the Air Ambulance flying overhead and quite low. Anticipating that it had landed on Reeth green, I hot footed it back up the garden, squealing like a stuck pig when I sank ankle deep in a section that I had to cross. Fortunately, I was wearing wellingtons and didn't require the assistance of said emergency crew to get me out!

Once on the green I espyed the copter landed as anticipated. There were police cars and an ambulance as well...along with one of the crew filming. Someone said that they must be filming it for a reality tv that's on (I don't watch things like that, so not sure which programme it is). We were trying to figure out if it was an exercise or for real, so I didn't like taking too many photos when an old naked man was trollied over to it, as I think it would have been in poor taste!

Apparantly, it was for real. Either the old guy had taken ill in the bath or getting lucky. He seemed quite with it, so hopefully he was fine.

It was great to see the copter, I couldn't decide whether to photograph it in flight or film it. I chose to film it, but because I don't often do that on my camera I failed to press the button that records so my efforts came out zero!

Exciting thing to see though in such a remote place. These guys do a great job!
