Mølen

View in LARGE.
This weekend we have been in the South of Norway staying with some friends at their cabin which happens to only be a short distance from this wonderful "beach" at Mølen. This is a part of the Gea Norvegica Geopark which is a UNESCO park.
The stones/boulders here are comprised of a vast range of different rock deposits from the last ice age. Everything from sandstones and chalks to volcanic lava, quartzites and chert. As it is a UNESCO site its illegal to remove stones which was rather gutting as both myself and wee B are rather obsessive stone collectors when we are on beaches. There were plenty of beauties we could happily have pocketed, but you can be safe in the knowledge that we were good law abiding citizens and left them where they belonged!
The wind was up and I was rather inclined to find a surfboard and get my wetsuit on as the surf was cracking. Offered up some great photo opportunities but the sea spray was mental and so haf my shots came out rubbish as the lens was covered in salt water spray. Most unhappy.
Plans to go back down here later in the year and hopefully catch a proper Autumn storm which is meant to be spectacular. Fingers crossed for a better image then.

Update on the duck from yesterday. Unfortunately by the time we got back to the beach the duck had gone. It didnt seem in bad shape apart from the obvious lack of sight but I dare say it will only be a matter of time. Terribly sad.
