Cruise America…Hog the Road

Driving to Yosemite is a study in contrasts.

A maze of freeways
Central Valley small farm towns
Flat farmland…mostly almond or pistachio  trees, or fallow fields
Sierra foothills…dry grass, oak trees, fields of volcanic rocks and cows
Entrance to Yosemite National Park…burned tree snags, recovering  brush
As the two lane winding road descends into the valley we catch glimpses of the valley floor and the rock cliffs towering above it, until…
We find ourselves behind a Cruise America motor home with a Florida license plate creeping down the unaccustomed steep road like a turtle with its home on its back, taking up both sides of the road and blocking the view. Too bad it wasn't a picture of Yosemite on the back….
