Left or right

The planned task for today was a significant one.

First. install the patio door frame so that is perfectly square and level in all directions.  A considerable challenge given that the space into which the frame was to be placed is part of my first major exercise in diy.  After very considerable work it was pronounced to be within tolerances acceptable to the manufacturer.

Second, install doors which caused much head scratching.

The patio doors were to be opening from the right to the left from the outside.  However, the instructions heard by the supplier were 'left opening'.  Now that has a number of possible meanings - opening from the left facing from the outside, opening from the inside left, opening to the left and so on.

There was a mismatch between my understanding of what we had purchased and what the supplier had given us.  Funny thing language.  Try again tomorrow.
