Caldeira Velha

So we had booked a tour of the island for today. We met our bus at 9am down by th eMArina and had a packed day. We did the local ceramic factory, two of the island's three volcanos which both had lakes formed in their calderas.

We also did a pinapple plantation, a liquor factory and Caldeira Velha which is a collection of geothermic pools in an area that almost looks prehistoric. It was lovely, one of the pools was slightly cooler and this one was really warm. We got about fifty minutes there and it was probably the one bit that we could have spent far longer at.

It was a great trip which included a fantastic lunch and, while we packed loads in, it never felt rushed. All in all great value.
