St Michael's Mount
Today was a long walk from Marazion where St Michael's Mount is situated to Porthleven.
St Michael's Mount use to be Benedictine Priory before it became a fortress in the 12th century and later a major port for exporting tin and copper. What is seen now was remodelled in Victorian times. In the photo the tide is in and you can just see the beginning of the causeway to the island. You can walk along this at low tide. A ferry is also visible taking people to the island.
We then continued along the footpath and surprised a weasel on the back of a rabbit. The rabbit was squealing and our presence caused the weasel to let go. No time for a photo of this though.
The weather was sunny and the scenery delightful, so much colour in the rocks, the white sandy beaches, vegetation and sea. We saw a seal later on and also walked past the Wheal Prosper engine house above Porthcew. This featured in the Poldark TV series.
A wonderful day that finished in the picturesque fishing village of Porthleven where we had ice creams and coffee.
