inspired by fireworks
It was the Olympic fireworks at Bowness that brought my sister over from Manchester. It had been raining heavily for hours but there was no news of a cancellation. We arrived at Bowness, half an hour before the show was due to start. Some brave souls had already been there for several hours and had seen the Olympic torch arrive, via Lake Windermere, from Ambleside.
There must have been several thousand soggy folks standing in the natural amphitheatre. We looked down from a hill onto a sea of umbrellas. As the time approached, the stage was swept clear of water in preparation for the dancers. At ten o'clock, the show was announced and we all waited with baited breath as a technical hitch was resolved. Then the display began. We were entertained for nearly an hour, while the fireworks, drums and dancers reached climax after climax. It was a spectacular show!
Not much chance of a good blip, though. Best just to enjoy the moment. Pam was inspired by a posy of garden flowers, so I was able to catch the moment she recorded them.
