Paisley
The Medieval and Victorian centre of Paisley, 12thC Abbey and 1882 Town Hall
with Queen Victoria surveying the scene from Dunn Square, 1894.
This fine town has the most listed buildings of any outwith the cities of Edinburgh and Glasgow a testament to its enormous commercial wealth in the 19thC and early 20thC and the generosity of its benefactors. Many would say that the buildings are much less important than the ordinary people's famed radicalism and love of poetry music art and literature which has prevailed to the present day
