Ronnie

Ronnie is another ex-Ford worker at our allotments. He is the father of Frank, and they work the same plot. 

For the past 30 years Ronnie has lived in the block besides the allotments, which can be seen in the background of this picture. It used to be a council owned block and Frank was one of the few to have bought his flat. A few years ago it was sold to a private developer and the tenants were rehoused. Frank was given temporary accommodation during renewal works and has now moved back in. Because he owns his flat, the company was not able to reduce it in size. This is what they have done with the majority of the other flats in the block, increasing the number of flats on each corridor from 4 to 6. And putting the rents up. And introducing a surcharge for those on the top 5 floors.
