An autumn walk through the parks of London
I had a wonderful day today on a Nikon Owner photographic walk through some of the parks of London. I got an early train up to London (got the last seat in the carriage) and we all met up at Holland Park. Although it was a little early for the autumn colours, we managed to find some very rewarding scenes to photograph. We spent some time in the Kyoto Garden, with its beautiful waterfall (see extra) and peacocks. We wandered past Holland House and then walked down Kensington High Street to go to Hyde Park.
It was a lovely sunny day but the wind picked up and at the Serpentine we had a laugh at all the birds with their ruffled feathers. We went past Kensington Palace with all the tourists taking photos of its ornate gates, and then went to the Serpentine Gallery and visited the temporary Serpentine Pavillion - every summer a top architect is invited to erect a temporary structure which this year was a shimmering multi coloured series of plastic tunnels - I could not resist a photo of the staff member with his matching multi coloured beard (see extra)
On the way to the Italian Gardens, we passed this wonderful Henry Moore sculpture - not surprisingly named The Arch. It looks onto Kensington Palace which can be seen in the distance. It was given to the park by the artist in 1980 and is made from travertine stones, and weighs 37 tons!
It was a very good day out, the first time I have been on an outing with the Nikon Owner group (I usually just get their magazines) and it will be a late night as I have 200 images to edit!
