A view from Jeanneb

Fairytale turrets.

Couldn't resist this little girl in red climbing the steps of the Fisherman's Bastion high above the River Danube on the Buda side of Budapest.

In the back ground, across the river in Pest, is the rather grand Hungarian Parliament building.

There was much if the fairytale in the colourful buildings on Castle Hill. Below were two men in traditional Magyar dress with an eagle offering photos taken with the bird perching on your hand! Such are some of the delights of this city.

We took the tourist bus and stopped first to look around the Citadel on Gelert Hill and have a warming cup of coffee. The bus again to the Castle district where we walked to the Bastion and found a warming Gluewein fit the bill perfectly as it has been pretty chilly.

Walking on to the palace a van was selling the renowned Chimney or Funnel cakes. A spiral of sweet brioche pastry straight from the oven. Yum, we were good and shared!

Before dinner we returned to the river to admire the many bridges and all the above and more by lit up at night - see extra of the Chain Bridge with the illuminated Fisherman's Bastion and St Matthia's church above and beyond it on the Buda side of the river.

A full on and fun day despite the cold weather. Thanks for yesterday's comments sorry I haven't time to respond at the moment.
