Butterfly Feast
I visited the Butterfly Rainforest at the Florida Natural History Museum this morning. The museum is on the grounds of the Univ. of Florida here in lovely Gainesville. This photo is of one of the many 'feeding stations' located throughout the exhibit. 'Past their Prime' bananas are the treat of choice...Yum! and some of the beautiful 'flying flowers' just can't seem to get enough of the sweet offerings. The large brownish butterflies with the big spots on the underside of their wings are Blue Morpho Butterflies. When their wings are open they show a very striking iridescent blue color. The black and white butterflies are Tree Nymphs. I'm not sure if this photo 'qualifies' for TinyTuesday, but I'm guessing that's all a matter of perspective. They are, quite obviously tinier than...a Dog, right? hahaha ;)
