Failure

Tried to get an arty "grasses blown by the wind" type shot but the sunlight is too bright for the necessary exposure time. Gave up and snapped a close up of one of the flowers in the field.

Any suggestions for not over-exposing a reasonably long exposure in bright sunlight?
