Abingdon in Bloom
This absolutely gorgeous back garden in Abingdon was open to visitors this afternoon. It won best wildlife garden and the best back garden prize in the 2011 Abingdon in Bloom competition. It's only an average sized garden but was jam packed with flowers and I spent a very pleasant hour there taking photos and drinking tea. Every single space was beautiful but the crowning glory was the pond with its pink and white waterlilies.
I had two reasons for going. Firstly, because I love looking at other people's gardens and fantasising how mine will one day look like that. Secondly, all the money raised (from donations at the front gate, and buying tea, cakes and wild flowers) is going to 'Friends of Radley Lakes' who hope to build a new visitor centre at my favourite local lakes (reclaimed gravel pits).
