ショウリョウバタ Acrida Cinerea
I took a lot of pictures today, literally hundreds, and most came out flat, lacking in contrast and not particularly sharp. I think it was probably that there was just way too much light this afternoon. Maybe I need a lens hood?
This one came out alright. It took me a while to warm to this type of grasshopper. At first I thought they had tiny mouths at the tip of their head, pointing towards the sky. Now I realize the mouth is at the bottom of the head, just above the legs- makes them look like seriously emaciated moomins on stilts.
