Tribute to Mikis Theodorakis

Because Mikis Theodorakis turned 90 years of age on July 29th some of his dearest performers celebrate his music with concerts all over Europe and from the backrow seat I got me some pix/blips tonight.

A Tribute to the famous and indeed old Master Mikis Theodorakis! payed to him by performers like Maria Farandouri, 70 years of age herself, and eventho' that shows her voice is mostly so recognizable and pliable like at old times... sad and then uplifting or flaming ~ great to hear her again!

And the other Mastodont of a Theodorakis performer was Yorgos Dalaras (66 yrs now) he's aged visibly as his hairs grew grey, but his voice....!? IT has not changed at all!! Same color, same tuning, same timbre like 40 years ago = same songs, same lyrics, same tunes, same thrill ..... absolutely wonderful!!

And yes Yorgos had to help Maria to move on / off stage as she's not all independant in her walking anymore

Theodorakis' songstexts are often derived from poems by poets like: Yannis Ritsos + Yorgos Seferis & Odysseas Elytis ( Greek poets) & Pablo Neruda (Chili's poet & a diplomat, like Seferis was)  a.o.

This was a special concert bearing nostalgia to me and as singers, composer & conductor are of age this may be a closure of an era

Theodorakis concert in Olympic Stadio Athens, just after the fall of the Junta ~ the audience is electric
