overhanging did nothing but invoke a general
feeling of unease. Sensitive questioning of
the waitress, mixed with complimenting
the quality of the toasted teacake and coffee,
revealed that footsteps were occasionally
heard on the top floor after the last customer
had left. It is clear that further investigation here
is called for - leaving aside the attraction of
toasted teacakes after a walk along the wild
cliffs beyond the Abbey
