Andalucia Day Three
Up and off from Ronda today on the only actual rail journey of our 'Great Rail Journeys' tour. The railway from Seville to Granada is being fixed, apparently, so we're bussing it. But 'Great Bus Journeys' doesn't sound quite so exciting...
After breakfast I took a shot of the view from our hotel. There was a group of cyclists in reception setting off at the same time as us. All shapes and sizes, surprisingly. They didn't look to be the same level of fitness, to put it politely, with some little old fat people as well as big strapping chaps. All in lycra.
A pleasant train trip to Córdoba, about two hours away. We had three hours there, which was taken up with a whistle-stop guided tour. What crowds! Mind you, it is a National Holiday today. The second photo makes me laugh - you couldn't take any photos without crowds of people in it. These folk aren't in our group, but I liked their colours. And their 'just-about-had-enough' expressions...
Córdoba must be fabulous in the spring, when all the townsfolk decorate their balconies and hanging baskets. And the 6,000 orange trees in the town make it smell lovely.
We passed the looooong queues to get into the spectacular Córdoba Cathedral. I should be able to give you lots of fascinating facts about it, of which there are many, because it's unique in the world, but I've forgotten them all and I can't do links on the iPad.. We had ear pieces with this tour guide, which was great, because you could lag behind, or find a wall to sit on, and still hear her.
Another short train trip to arrive in Seville about 4:30. Just time to nip out and people watch over a coffee, then we're going out for a group meal tonight. The first night we had a set meal, and some folk hardly ate a thing - there was no choice and each course was sort of indecipherable... But tonight it's tapas. And possibly cava. Yay!
PS J sent a video of Archie and Bailey playing. We sent him one back from the tapas bar. Apparently he pricked up his ears....
