Mono-Monday: "Rock" - Rock People

The Rock people were characters in the "He-man: Masters of the Universe" franchise. The two characters of Stonedar and Rokkon were representatives of an entire race of people whose bodies were encased in shells of rock; they could transform themselves into the forms of meteors. When in meteor form they gained the power of flight as well as near-invincibility. Stonedar (on the left in the picture) was the leader of his race; a noble and wise warrior who acted as a kind of father figure to the younger, more excitable Rokkon. This diptych shows them in each of their forms.

The He-Man stories appeared in comic form and in an animated TV series; the TV series made its debut in 1983 and ran until 1985, followed by various repeats. It was much loved by our three lads, who accumulated a large number of plastic figures and props to play with, mainly from second-hand toy shops, school fairs, etc. As we are inveterate squirrels we still have these in a box in the attic so my Editor kindly dug these out for me for today's MM challenge.

In the background you can see Castle Grayskull, He-Man's lair. The evil Skeletor was constantly trying to win over He-Man but never succeeded.
