Waves

Negative space waves ripple across the surface of a palm leaf base.  One of my backyard palms shed this work of art!  It's the base of a dead palm frond near where it was formerly attached to the tree.  When one a frond dies, its stem collapses, but the leaf isn't immediately shed by the tree.  Instead, it has time to mummify before it finally falls free.
