Wandering home...
After yesterday's festivities, a slow start to the day before heading back home...
En route, we stopped off at Baddesley Clinton, a Tudor moated Manor House, just north of Warwick. This has to be one of the most beautiful National Trust properties I've ever visited, and definitely one of my favourites! The bright Autumn sunshine was wonderful, but not good for taking a shot of the classic view of the moated house (extra photo 1), but it did help to illuminate the inner courtyard, and create lovely reflections in the moat (extras 2 and 3).
Travellers' tip: if you're heading up/down the M5, do stop off at the new Gloucester Services. Opened in July 2015 by Prince Charles, it really is an amazing place, as service stations go! There's a great cafe and a fantastic shop that sells all sort of gourmet delicacies (including a butchers' counter, a fishmonger, deli and bakery counters), as well as a host of other goods including clothing from White Stuff, Joules etc. In fact you could probably do all your Christmas food and gift shopping there! And all inside a light and airy modern building, designed with a turf roof so that it blends into the Cotswold landscape... Well worth a stop!!
